21st Century Bihar: Envisioning a Disability-Free Bihar through The Bharat Vikas Sanjay Anand Viklang Hospital.

We are proud to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Year of Bharat Vikas and Sanjay Anand Viklang Hospital, a beacon of hope and compassion for people with disabilities in Bihar. This remarkable institution has been dedicated to serving the needs of individuals with disabilities, with the ultimate goal of creating a disability-free Bihar.

During the main ceremony on January 7, 2024, in Pahari, Patna, Dr Ashok Chaudhary, Bihar's Building Construction Minister and a compassionate politician, emphasized that the true purpose of politics is to serve suffering humanity. This sentiment was echoed by Mr. Nandkishore Yadav, who expressed his gratitude to the hospital for making his legislative area disability-free 12 years ago. Prof. Kiran Ghai, in her address, compared her contribution to the founding of the hospital to that of a squirrel, highlighting the collective efforts required to make a difference.

The event witnessed the overwhelming support of Padma Shri Kanu Bhai Tailor, who offered jobs, hostel facilities, and food in his institute in Surat for disabled individuals in need. Additionally, he pledged to provide twenty-five computers to initiate computer education for people with disabilities. Mr. Sunil Anand from the USA shared his personal journey of serving people with disabilities in Bihar for the past 25 years, emphasizing the transformative power of organ donation.

The hospital's Chairperson, Mr Deshbandhu Gupta, welcomed the esteemed guests and shared the hospital's remarkable journey so far. Over the past 24 years, the hospital has provided invaluable services worth approximately thirty crores. These services include medical examinations for 89,322 patients, artificial equipment for 38,689 individuals, and surgeries for 9,888 patients.

A highlight of the ceremony was the inspiring performances by two renowned disabled artists, challenging the notion that disability is a curse. Bihar's disabled individuals who achieved national and international records in sports and arts were honoured for their exceptional accomplishments. Mr. Mukesh Hisaria, known as the Bloodman of Bihar, and Mr. Rameshchandra Gupta, President of Marwari Health Society, received the prestigious Service Award for their outstanding contributions.

The event also recognized the dedicated social workers associated with the hospital since its inception. These individuals were honoured with tilak, clothing, and mementos, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and support. The Military Band of the Armed Border Force added a special touch to the occasion by greeting all guests and social workers with national tunes.

The inauguration of the program was marked by the lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries, including Padma Shri Kanu Bhai Tailor, Mr. Sunil Anand, Anupama Anand, Mayor Mrs. Sita Sahu, MLA Mr. Nand Kishore Yadav, MLA Dr Sanjeev Chaurasia, Dr S.S. Jha, Chairperson Deshbandhu Gupta, Padma Shri Bimal Jain, Vivek Mathur, and Sanjay Drolia. Dr S.N. Sarraf from Cicero offered specialized services for patients with crooked or bent bodies, with dedicated OPD days now scheduled on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

The program, conducted by Padma Shri Bimal Jain, the hospital's founding secretary, commenced with the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram' and concluded with the rendition of the national anthem, celebrating the spirit of unity and progress.
